E.F. Johnson was a two-way radio and electronics manufacturer founded in Waseca, Minnesota, in 1923 by Edgar. F. Johnson.

The company started out selling radio transmitting parts to amateurs and early radio broadcasters by mail-order. With the onset of World War II, the company devoted 100% of production to defense needs. After the war, the company introduced its Viking line of amateur transmitters which included the Viking, Valiant, Ranger and Pacemaker. Today, these products are collected, restored, and operated by many vintage amateur radio enthusiasts.

In the late 1960s, a thriving land-mobile radio business replaced amateur equipment as the company's line of products, and it became known for its CB and business radio products. EF Johnson was also the creator of the Logic Trunked Radio trunking format. Johnson was purchased by software manufacturer Transcrypt International in 1997 and in 2005, moved its headquarters to Irving, Texas. The company changed its name to EFJohnson Technologies in 2008.
